A Tribute to Fethullah Gülen: A Visionary of Hope and Harmony
Fethullah Gülen was more than a leader; he was a visionary who championed a positive psychology of hope and an Islam rooted in harmony and coexistence. During the difficult decades of Turkey’s 70s, 80s, and 90s—and even in today’s Turkish administration—he stood as a beacon of light, guiding people toward a renewed sense of purpose and peace. His teachings encouraged us to view every challenge as an opportunity for growth, every difference as a chance for connection, and every individual as part of a larger, interconnected human family. His ideas transcended national borders, bringing this great movement to the West and beginning to educate the world.
He inspired many to believe in the power of education and dialogue as pathways to a better world, grounded in shared values of compassion, understanding, and unity. Gülen’s message was one of solving the world’s problems through dialogue among all people—brothers and sisters in humanity, the sons and daughters of Abraham and Adam. He urged us to build bridges, not walls, and to approach each other with respect, seeing every interaction as a chance to foster peace.
As someone who has had the honor of working across countries for his movement, I am deeply inspired by how his vision continues to touch hearts and transform lives globally. His passing leaves a profound loss, but his legacy—one of hope, harmony, and commitment to humanity’s common good—endures in the mission he set before us. May we carry forward his dream of a world where all people live as one, united in service and peace.
