As a proud graduate of Nizamiye School in Johannesburg, South Africa and now an educator within this esteemed institution, I wish to take a moment to reflect on the profound impact of the Hizmet movement and the legacy of its founder, the late Fethullah Gülen. As I take a moment to reflect on my journey, I feel it imperative to commend a tribute to Fethullah Gülen, whose teachings and philosophy have significantly shaped the lives of countless individuals around the world. His embodiment of love, compassion, and empathy serves as an enduring source of inspiration for us all. Fethullah Gülen has dedicated his life to promoting values that transcend cultural and religious boundaries, emphasizing the importance of education, dialogue, and mutual understanding. His values and vision of fostering harmony among diverse communities resonates deeply with me, urging me to carry forward these principles in my own life. Through my journey at NSM, I have noticed a common thread amongst our Hizmet educators, showing love, compassion, empathy and a humbleness in their approach. Their commitment to inspiring learners to pursue knowledge and personal growth while maintaining a profound sense of humility; I feel a strong responsibility to embody these values and to pass them on to generations to come. Fethullah Gülen’s philosophy of education and service has been a guiding light in my own journey, inspiring me to pursue a path dedicated to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students. His emphasis on the value of knowledge, compassion, and community service encapsulates the very essence of what we strive to achieve within our school. Thank you to the Hizmet community for your commitment to humanity; your teachings will forever inspire and guide me. As we commemorate the legacy of Fethullah Gülen, let us continue to be inspired by his teachings, striving to make a positive difference in our communities and beyond. As an educator I continue to strive to embody the values of the Hizmet, ensuring that the spirit of service and dedication to education lives on.
